photo: Marko Priske / Stiftung Denkmal In 1992, the German government decided to erect a national memorial in commemoration of the murder of the European Sinti and Roma persecuted as "Gypsies". The memorial by the artist Dani Karavan consists of a fountain with a submergible stone in the middle on which a fresh flower is laid every day. Panels present information on the persecution and mass murder of this minority under the National Socialist regime of terror. The memorial is freely accessible to people with and without disabilities by day and by night. More information on the website of "Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe"
