Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg is a district of Berlin with a population of about 280,000. Almost 40,000 children, teenagers and young adults between the ages of 0 and 27 live here. We cooperate with 32 projects to offer spaces for kids, teens, and young adults to spend their time after school or during school holidays. The facilities are run by education professionals and pedagogically trained social workers.
We strongly believe that children and teenagers need opportunities to shape their leisure time, to learn from each other, to find help with their homework or personal issues and of course just to have fun – without paying money for it. Our job is to lobby for and support the interests of young people; our mission is that young Berliners can participate in political processes and have access to opportunities outside the family and formal education; developing confidence, self-determination, social responsibility, and civic participation skills.
We offer spaces where young people can find their voice to express themselves, their needs and feelings, to create a better environment for them, to make a positive change in their communities and to shape the city they live in.
