The Standing Conference of German Interior Ministers

In 2023, Berlin held the presidency of the Standing Conference of German Interior Ministers (German: IMK, “Innenministerkonferenz”; officially: Standing Conference of Interior Ministers and Senators of the Länder). Berlin’s Senator of the Interior, Iris Spranger, acted as formal Chairperson of the IMK. She coordinated and chaired the official business of the IMK and acts as representative and spokesperson at national and European level. In this capacity, she was the central point of contact for federal authorities, associations, organisations and other stakeholders. The duties of the IMK Presidency also entail the preparation of and follow-up to meetings, including the implementation of adopted decisions.
