Professional language courses according to DeuFöV

  • Who can participate?
    • People who have successfully completed an integration course or have a B1 certificate.
    • You must be registered as unemployed or seeking work.
      You can get the entitlement certificate from your adviser at the Job Centre/Agency for Employment.
  • What levels are there?

    The vocational language courses at the VHS Tempelhof-Schöneberge are currently held at level B2. The prerequisite is language level B1.

  • How long do the courses last and what do they cost?

    The Adult Education Centre offers two types of courses:

    • Courses with a bridge module (B2.0, B2.1 and B2.2) last 500 lessons.
    • Courses without a bridge module (B2.1 and B2.2) last 400 lessons.

    For people who receive social benefits or have a very low income, the course is free of charge. This is decided by the Job Centre/Agency for Employment.

  • When and where do the courses take place?
    • The vocational language course takes place daily from Monday to Friday, either in the morning or in the afternoon.
    • Please note that the course is also held during school holidays.
  • What is special about these courses?

    In the course, German is taught at level B2 and, in addition, knowledge about working life and general professional language used in the workplace rather than technical/professional terms from specific professions.

  • Is there an exam and who pays for the course material?

    The course ends with an examination at level B2.

    The exam and the course book are free of charge for participants.

  • How can I register?

    The courses require prior consultation and, if necessary, a placement test.

  • Why is counselling important?

    During the counselling session, you will find out whether you meet the requirements for free participation in the course, what documents we need and what you need to be aware of.
    You can also ask questions about the course.

    People who want to improve their job-related language skills and have appropriate German language skills (as in the course description on the internet).

  • What levels are there?

    There are different courses at levels B1 and higher.

  • How long do the courses last and what do they cost?

    The duration of the courses varies, there are workshops and also courses over many weeks.
    One lesson costs at least 2.50 €.

  • When and where do the courses take place?

    The courses take place at different times of the day in different learning locations in the district of Tempelhof-Schöneberg.

  • Is there an exam and do I have to pay for the course material?

    Whether the course ends with an exam depends on the specific course.

    Participants have to buy the textbook themselves. You will receive more detailed information on the first day of the course.
