International cultural exchange programmes

As part of the International Cultural Exchange funding programmes, the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion awards grants to promote cultural exchange and to support the artistic development of professional, Berlin-based artists of all desciplines. The international exchange grants enable artists to learn about the culture(s) of their respective host city, study local art scenes, gain new contacts and realise a project on location. The Minister of State for Culture and the Media and the Kulturstiftung der Länder (Cultural Foundation of the Federal States) co-operate in awarding federal international grants for artists in Rome and Olevano Romano, Venice and Paris. As part of this co-operation, the Kulturstiftung der Länder carries out the application and selection process. The federal grants (Bundesstipendien) for the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris for Berlin artists will then be awarded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
