Target group / Purpose of funding
The work stipend programme was established to support the artistic development of professional artists working in the visual arts. Stipends shall support an artist’s endeavour for a limited period of time, during which new work can be started and existing projects will either be continued or completed. Stipends are awarded on the basis of the artistic quality of work, continuity and potential for development.
Eligibility and conditions
- Artists wishing to participate in this programme should have a track record of producing outstanding work and be able to verify this with their portfolio.
- Artists applying to this programme must live and work in Berlin.
- Applicants may not be enrolled at a higher education institution.
The eleven work stipends of €18,000 each are dispensed in nine monthly payments in the period from April to December of the respective funding year. In addition to this, recipients will be invited to participate in a group exhibition, catalogue and side programme.
Call for applications
A call for applications to the work stipend programme is usually issued in December of each year for the following year.
Individual artists can submit an application to this programme every second year.
