Funding programme for women artists in film/video

Deadline for submission/application: 21 September 2023 at 6pm (CET)

Online applications need to be fully submitted by 6 pm. After 6pm, submission is no longer possible and transmissions which started are automatically cancelled.

Notes on formal exclusion

Exceeding the maximum number of pages and/or maximum data volume can lead to formal exclusion from the jury process. Submitting incomplete identity documents can lead to formal exclusion, too. Please make sure to submit all necessary attachments in the right format!

Online information event

There will be an online information session for all applicants on 5 September 2023, 14:00 – 15:30.

Target group / Purpose of funding

The work stipends are intended for the artistic development of professional female film and video makers.

Funding is provided for projects of a limited duration, such as script-writing, for research and other aspects of pre-production/production or post-production. In addition, the scholarships serve to secure a livelihood in order to enable concentration on artistic work.

Eligibility and conditions

• The female filmmakers have won recognition for the quality of their work and are able to provide samples from their portfolio.
• The artists applying to this programme must have their main place of residence in Berlin.
• Projects that serve the realisation of pure video installations are not funded.
• Students cannot apply
• The online applications must be completed and submitted in German.

Funding volume

• The stipends for female filmmakers are endowed with €2,000 per month and are usually awarded for a period of four to six months depending on the specific requirements of the project.

A call for applications to this programme is issued in August for the following year.
