The application period for the 2027 work grant for filmmakers (women and trans, inter and non-binary people) is expected to begin on Thursday, 23 July 2026 and ends on Thursday, 1 October 2026, at 11:00 am. Online applications must have been submitted by 11 a.m. After 11 a.m., sending is no longer possible; transmissions that have been started are automatically cancelled.

Info session

The advisory center Kreativ Kultur Berlin of Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH and the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion invite you to an info session. Applicants will have the opportunity to obtain important information about the work grant and the application process. Questions can be asked after the information event.

The event is held online and in German. There will be subtitling in English.

Target group / Purpose of funding

The work grants in the field of film and video are awarded to women and trans, inter and non-binary people who work as professional filmmakers. The work grants are intended for the artistic development of the artists. Funding is provided for projects for a limited duration, such as script-writing, for research and / or other aspects of pre-production, production or post-production of artistic films.

Eligibility and conditions

  • Funding is intended for artists (women and trans, inter and non-binary people) who have already completed their artistic training and / or who can prove that they have been working as a filmmaker for several years.
  • The filmmakers applying to this programme must live and work in Berlin (primary residence).
  • Projects that serve the realisation of video installations are not funded.
  • Students (including PhD-students) and (visiting) professors are excluded from submitting an application.
  • The online application form must be completed and submitted in German.

Funding volume

The duration of the work grant depends on the scope of the work project. Work grants can be awarded for 4 months, 5 months or 6 months – subject to the availability of funds. The grants are expected to be paid out in monthly installments of € 2,000.

Call for applications

A call for applications to this programme is issued in August for the following year.

Allocation of funding

The Cultural Department appoints a jury to assess the applications. The jury members for the grants 2027 will be announced in due course.

All applicants are expected to be informed of the results of the jury meeting by e-mail by the end of February 2027. The names of the funded artists will be announced to the public.
