Future locations are locations where network structures between science and industry exist or are to be created. Active exchange and cooperation between business, research, and technology institutions promote innovation and competitiveness in the regional economy.

Berlin should be strengthened as a location for future industries and technologies. Future locations with space for technology- and knowledge-oriented companies that offer room for innovative ideas and creativity are a crucial building block in this endeavor.

Since October 1, 2017, an administrative office has been responsible for raising the profile of this brand and ensuring its continued existence. It supports internal and external networking and cooperation so that Berlin can present itself as a science-oriented business location in the competition. In what is now the third GRW funding period since April 1, 2024, the administrative office has once again been entrusted with this task.

The goal of the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises is to promote the future locations as hubs connecting business, science, and research, to optimize the development of the areas, and to attract skilled workers and high-tech companies to Berlin.
