No other industry has seen as many companies move to and start up in Berlin in recent years. Berlin offers service companies the advantage of a large local market with around 3.7 million consumers. The communications, consulting and service industries in particular are recording strong momentum. New services are also in demand in the Berlin information and communications technology environment.
One of the main economic sectors of the city is the tourism industry. In 2022, Berlin was able to enjoy 26.5 million overnight stays. The number of overnight stays reached 78 percent of 2019, the year before the pandemic, which saw a record number of over 34 million overnight stays.
