In Berlin and Brandenburg, around 6,500 companies in the field of energy technology with over 60,500 employees generate sales of around 29 billion Euro. Numerous research facilities, universities, and institutions of higher education provide first-class research and teaching in all areas of energy engineering. Major solar industry associations and energy agencies are headquartered here.

The city of Berlin aims to become a climate-neutral city in the next few decades and is thus responding to the challenges of climate change in the same way as other metropolises around the world. Efficient technologies are being developed and tested in a variety of projects here.
