The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued official severe weather warnings for Berlin and Brandenburg.
Freezing rain and black ice will occur from 10 am to 6 pm on Monday, meteorologists said. Later in the day, milder weather is expected from the west. The danger of black ice is then expected to slowly decrease. From Monday evening and in the night to Tuesday, the severe weather situation is expected to gradually ease.
The weather service advises people to avoid spending time outdoors. In addition, considerable traffic obstructions and even closures are expected. Drivers should drive carefully, fill up their tanks if possible and take blankets and warm drinks with them.
