Berlin gets a citizen advisory council for tourism

In the future, Berliners will have the opportunity to actively shape the capital's tourism development in a new committee.

How do we preserve Berlin's diverse neighborhood culture? How can we further develop tourism in Berlin? These and other questions will be addressed in the future by the new Berlin Tourism Citizens' Advisory Council ("Bürger:innenbeirat Berlin-Tourismus"). In close cooperation with the state of Berlin, Berliners can ths actively shape the future of tourism in the capital.

24 members from all 12 districts needed

In total, 24 volunteer members from all Berlin districts are being sought for the new independent council. Membership runs for up to three years. Anyone over the age of 18 who lives in Berlin is eligible to apply. Two representatives are sought from each of the 12 districts, who will be selected from the applications received by the respective district administration. The deadline for all applications is September 15, 2022.

New impulses for sustainable tourism

Through an active exchange between Berliners and tourism stakeholders in the city, the new Citizens' Advisory Council will help to develop impulses and ideas for sustainable and city-compatible tourism. The committee is based on an initiative of the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises in cooperation with visitBerlin and the Berlin districts.

First session in October

The first meeting of the Citizens' Advisory Council is scheduled to take place after the end of the application process, between October 10 and 16, 2022. In addition to four meetings per year, the agenda of the new council also includes so-called citizens' forums in all districts, where interested Berliners will be able to obtain information on various topics and express their opinions.
