Sister Cities International was first started in the 1950s by President Eisenhower in order to help develop friendly relationships between citizens all over the world, on a personal, people to people basis.
This year marks a special milestone, as we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Los Angeles-Berlin Sister City Partnership.
On June 27, 1967, Berlin became Los Angeles' 6th sister city with the mission to advance in every possible way the relationship between the two prominent cities.
The Sister City relationship between Los Angeles and Berlin has been very culturally, commercially and socially active. With the great partnership we have cultivated, I look forward to another 40 years of collaboration and celebration.
