Velocity: Road closures throughout the city over the weekend

On the occasion of the Velocity bike race, there will be extensive road closures throughout the city starting Friday.

The first closures affect the start and finish areas of the race. Straße des 17. Juni and Ebertstraße are already closed between the Brandenburg Gate and Großer Stern. More roads in the area will be closed in the afternoon.

Closures around Straße des 17. Juni start Friday

According to the Berlin Traffic Information Center (VIZ), additional closures will be set up around Straße des 17. Juni from 6 PM on Friday. The roads affected are John-Foster-Dulles-Allee, Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße, Scheidemannstraße, the part of Dorotheenstraße between Wilhelmstraße and Ebertstraße, Heinrich-von-Gagernstraße, and Paul-Löbe-Allee. On Saturday, the Velocity children's races will take place on Straße des 17. Juni.

Numerous road closures on race day

On Saturday, the main race day, all affected roads will be closed to traffic from 8:15 AM onwards. Their gradual reopening will begin after the cyclists have passed through, at around 1:15 PM.

These roads will be closed for the race: Ernst-Reuter-Platz, Otto-Suhr-Allee, Spandauer Damm, Charlottenburger Chaussee, Teltower Straße, Havelchaussee, Kronprinzessinnenweg, Hüttenweg, Onkel-Tom-Straße, Argentinische Allee, Saargemünder Straße, Löhleinstraße, Thielallee, Königin-Luise-Straße, Grunewaldstraße, Albrechtstraße, Steglitzer Damm, Attilastraße, Manteuffelstraße, Boelckestraße, Katzbachstraße, Yorckstraße, Möckernstraße, Stresemannstraße, Anhalter Straße, Wilhelmstraße, Kochstraße, Rudi-Dutschke-Straße, Oranienstraße, Prinzenstraße, Heinrich-Heine-Straße, Köpenicker Straße, Michaelkirchstraße, An der Michaelbrücke, Lichtenberger Straße, Strausberger Platz, Karl-Marx-Allee, Alexanderstraße, Karl-Liebknecht-Straße, Torstraße, Tucholskystraße, Ziegelstraße, Friedrichstraße, Reinhardtstraße, Kapelle Ufer, Rahel-Hirsch-Straße, Alt-Moabit, Lüneburger Straße, Paulstraße, and Spreeweg.

Also closed for the extended route are Altonaer Straße, Levetzowstraße, Gotzkowskystraße, Alt-Moabit, Beusselstraße, Saatwinkler Damm, Gartenfelder Straße, and Bernauer Straße up to the level of the waterworks.

Several BVG bus and tram lines also affected

Meanwhile, the BVG announced that a total of 49 bus lines and six tram lines would have to be diverted or halted between 9:15 AM and 1 PM.
