Velocity Berlin

Velothon in Berlin

The Velocity Berlin is the second largest cycling event of its kind in Europe. The beautiful race course runs along all of Berlin's main sights.

Inspired by the concept of a city-marathon, Velocity is an unique race for amateur and professional cyclists. It attracts more than 13,000 participants and 250,000 spectators every year. From Tiergarten, the route is completely closed to public traffic. It takes participants right through the pulsating metropolis of Berlin and its green surroundings, past the city's most important sights including the East Side Gallery, the Victory Column and the Reichstag.

Velocity Routes: City Course and Southern Loop

Velothon offers two racing routes: the 60-kilometer City Course ("Stadtkurs") for beginners and hobby cyclists and the more ambitious 120-kilometer Southern Loop ("Südschleife"). Bouth routes lead the cyclists past the important sights of Berlin such as the Brandenburg Gate, the East Side Gallery, Siegessäule and Reichstag. The Southern Loop for ambitious cyclists also leads participants into the surrounding nature of Brandenburg.

Traffic Information: Route and Road Closures

Unfortunately, this major event cannot be held without traffic restrictions. The race route runs through seven Berlin districts (Mitte, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Spandau, Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Neukölln, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg) as well as through the Brandenburg districts of Potsdam-Mittelmark and Teltow-Fläming, which border Berlin to the south. Further details will follow closer to the event.
