With its permanent exhibition "Tuet auf die Pforten" (Open the gates), the New Synagogue Berlin - Centrum Judaicum Foundation aims to trace the history of the house and the life associated with it.

Most of the objects that could tell something about the house were destroyed. But during the securing work that preceded the reconstruction of the preserved historical building fabric, some architectural fragments as well as parts of the interior furnishings were discovered. They are the focus of the exhibition.

A tour of the exhibition will use various documents and exhibits to give an impression of how diverse the forms of Jewish life were in this part of Berlin. The enormous dimensions of the former synagogue main room can be seen for oneself on the open space behind the restored parts of the building during a guided tour. The former inner wall and the last remnants of masonry, with which the actual synagogue began, are protected by a glass and steel construction. The ground plan of the former main synagogue - laid out in stone - is indicated on the open space and gives an idea of the dimensions of the destroyed part. Thus the scars caused by history remain visible.
