The much frequented Tiergarten tunnel at Berlin's main train station will be closed for five days from Monday.
This was announced by the Senate Department for the Environment, Urban Mobility, Consumer Protection and Climate Action on Friday. The reason for the full closure is the modernization and replacement of the almost 20-year-old computer technology.
The tunnel will be completely closed in both directions from Monday, April 25 at 10 a.m. until Friday, 6 p.m.. The Invalidenstrasse and Kemperplatz junctions will also be closed accordingly. The Tiergarten Spreebogen tunnel was opened in 2006. It passes under the River Spree, Tiergarten and Straße des 17. Juni. Road users are advised to avoid the area if possible during the closure period.
