Members of the Senate present their decisions in a press conference after each Senate meeting. Press conferences usually take place in the Ferdinand Friedensburg Room (Room 338) on Tuesdays at 1 pm.
The Senate’s press conferences are hosted by the Berlin Press Conference, an independent volunteer consortium of journalists.
The room is named for the politician Ferdinand Friedensburg. He served as one of Berlin’s Mayors, the deputies to the Lord Mayor, from 1946 to 1951. During the Berlin Blockade between 1948 and 1949 he acquired a sizable reputation.
When Berlin was divided and the Red Town Hall was the seat of East Berlin’s city government, a staff canteen was located where the Press Conference Room is today.
The Senate’s press conferences are streamed live on Youtube . When the Senate adopts decisions, a press release is sent out. All interested readers can subscribe to our German-language newsletter containing the latest press releases.
You can only visit the Press Conference Room virtually. We appreciate your understanding.
