The Coronavirus incidence in Berlin has fallen slightly. On Tuesday morning (Feb. 22, 2022), the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported an incidence of 1079.1.
On the previous days, the incidence value, which indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, had still been over 1100. The Berlin incidence thus remains well below the national average of 1306.8. However, experts assume that there are many unrecorded cases lacking from the RKI data because numerous infections are not registered due to a lack of capacity and insufficient testing.
8246 new infections were recorded by Tuesday, bringing the total number of registered Covid cases in Berlin to more than 700,000. Four new Covid-related deaths were recorded. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4217 people have so far died from or with the virus.
The number of Coronavirus patients hospitalized within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants decreased again. According to the Senate Report, the hospitalization incidence was averaging 20.6. Similarly, the occupancy of intensive care units by Corona patients dropped to 14.1 percent.
