
Berlin, 28 May, 2025 – The decision has been made: The independent expert juries of the Deep Tech Awards 2025 have made their choice from a large number of forward-looking applications. 15 finalists – three in each of the five categories – have prevailed with their technological innovations and are now in the spotlight of Berlin’s deep tech scene.
This year’s award ceremony on 2 July 2025 not only marks the highlight of the competition year, but also a significant anniversary: the Deep Tech Award is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Since 2015, the award has honored technological and entrepreneurial pioneering work from the capital region – always with the aim of specifically promoting the deep tech industry in Berlin and making it more visible.
The finalists of the Deep Tech Awards 2025 at a glance
Three companies qualified from a strong field of applicants in each of five pioneering technology and application fields – Artificial Intelligence, Photonics & Quantum Technologies, Robotics, Sustainable & Social Impact and Web3 – DLT, Blockchain, NFT & Metaverse.
The evaluation was carried out by independent juries made up of experts from science, business and associations. In addition to the degree of innovation, the business model and the added value of the product for users were also decisive.
Artificial Intelligence
Hexafarms GmbH
Hexafarms was founded in 2022 to optimize commercial food production, conserve resources and reduce food waste. Hexafarms offers software as a service for food producers.
IANUS Simulation GmbH
IANUS Simulation GmbH is a deep tech scale-up company founded in 2006 with locations in Berlin, Dortmund, Bielefeld and Darmstadt. Over 100 international experts develop highly automated simulation-as-a-service solutions for technical processes and natural hazards – from machines, systems and building technology to floods, heat islands and fire scenarios.
Noah Labs GmbH
Noah Labs was founded in 2021 by Oliver Piepenstock and Marcus Hott in Berlin and offers a machine learning (ML)-based solution for remote monitoring of patients with heart failure.
Photonics & quantum technologies
Kipu Quantum GmbH
Kipu Quantum is a world-leading German quantum computing start-up that develops quantum computing solutions for a wide range of industries. Kipu Quantum was founded in 2021 by Prof. Dr. Enrique Solano, Dr. Daniel Volz and Dr. Tobias Grab. The aim is to commercialize quantum computing for relevant problems.
Mimotype Technologies GmbH
Mimotype is a bio-nanotechnology company that develops and manufactures materials systems based on nature. These biomaterials enable advanced photonics and quantum applications. Instead of toxic and inefficient photoconverters, Mimotype offers ecologically degradable material systems.
Noxoon GmbH
Noxoon was founded in Berlin in 2024 by Dr. Mustafa Biyikal and Christopher Walter. Together, they develop and produce the world’s smallest mobile explosives detector, closing a security gap at airports worldwide.
Robotics
ConBotics GmbH
ConBotics was founded in 2021 and specializes in robotic solutions for the construction industry – in particular coating and painting solutions. With its robots, ConBotics offers solutions for various areas of application with a daily rental model, making it an example of successful cooperation between the skilled trades and tech start-ups.
DiAvEn UG
The company was founded in 2019 by Tim Fischer, Kolja Klein and Juri Bieler at TU Berlin. They build and operate drones for the transportation of medical laboratory samples.
pi4_robotics GmbH
pi4_robotics GmbH was founded in Berlin in 1994 and is a manufacturer of humanoid robots with research and production facilities in Berlin. The company places particular emphasis on resilient European supply chains and fair, environmentally friendly working conditions.
Sustainable & Social Impact
Level Nine Labs (UG)
Level Nine Labs is a Berlin-based deep-tech start-up in the field of sustainable nanozyme catalysts. Dr. Emily Sheridan (Bio-Nanoscience) and Seadna Quigley founded the company to produce novel catalysts inspired by nature.
PRAMOMOLECULAR GmbH
PRAMOMOLECULAR was founded in 2021 by a team (Dr. Merle Fuchs, Ida Shaef, Dr. Thomas Hiller) from TU Berlin with the help of EXIST research transfer. Their patented platform technology offers the possibility of developing active medical ingredients significantly faster and more cost-effectively.
Skyseed GmbH
Skyseed is a climate tech start-up founded in Berlin that pursues the vision of establishing climate-resistant mixed forests efficiently and close to nature with the help of drone technology, bio-inspired seed breeding and digital land planning. With around 20 employees in Berlin and Baden-Württemberg, they are already reforesting forests throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Scotland.
Web3 – DLT, Blockchain, NFT & Metaverse
AFTS GmbH
AFTS started in 2020 as a spin-off of BlockChain University IABG Berlin with the aim of using industrial supply chains via blockchain technology to ensure the immutability and trustworthiness of data. Since 2024, AFTS has been focusing on the defense industry as a NATO SACT partner.
NYALA Digital Asset AG
NYALA was founded in Berlin in 2021 and is a tokenization platform that covers the entire life cycle of digital assets – from issuing tokens to distribution, trading and interest payments. This enables SMEs in particular to access private investments and private investors to make investments in small companies that were previously difficult to access.
Peachz Technology Inc
Peachz is a music technology startup based in Berlin. Rodrick Rahim Chattaika Jr. and Christopher McDonald founded Peachz to create a sustainable and transparent platform for independent electronic music artists.
50,000 euros in prize money for the Deep Tech Stars 2025
At the award ceremony on July 2, 2025, the five winning companies – the Deep Tech Stars – will be announced and receive prize money of 10,000 euros each.
In addition to the award ceremony, guests can expect a varied program with keynote speeches, networking opportunities and delicious food.
