The Hanf Museum (Hemp Museum) is the only one of its kind in Germany and one of only four in the world, along with those in Bologna, Barcelona and Amsterdam.

In the heart of Berlin, in the Nikolaiviertel, interested visitors can get a comprehensive picture of the old cultivated plant. The exhibition, which covers all topics related to hemp, extends over almost 300 square metres.

Starting with a general introduction, the growth and cultivation, the harvest and the pre-processing are described from a historical point of view. Further it goes with the individual use possibilities:

-Insulation and insulating materials
-fiber production and textile manufacturing
-cellulose use and paper production
-seed use
-medical possibilities

After the conventional use, the importance of hemp in different cultures of the world - from Jamaica to India - is illuminated. Exemplary for Berlin is Wolfgang Neuss, who is known to many not only as a post-war cabaret artist, but also as a brilliant free spirit, biting lateral thinker and convinced stoner.

Finally, the exhibition deals with the legal side of THC-containing hemp, in particular attempting to unravel the current state of the law.

In the reading café, artists also have the opportunity to exhibit their works and visitors to the museum can watch videos on the subject.

Furthermore, a small shop offers articles and literature from and about hemp. In our plant showcase you can see hemp growing.
