Meadows, pastures, wool. The sheep in Charlottenburg Palace Gardens

Guided tour for adults

Schafe im Schlossgarten Charlottenburg

Schafe im Schlossgarten Charlottenburg

Sheep have been grazing the meadows in the northern part of the palace gardens for several years. On this guided tour with two experts, visitors learn interesting facts about the animals, their species-appropriate husbandry and their contribution to landscape conservation.

On the way to the herd, garden manager Andrea Badouin (SPSG) talks about the care of the meadows and lawns and about the grazing concept that forms the basis of sheep farming in the palace garden. Shepherd Björn Hagge introduces his animals and describes how he works with them: How are sheep cared for? What is needed to keep them? What do they need and what can herding dogs do? How is the wool obtained? At the end, guests have the opportunity to go into the herd and make contact with the animals themselves.

The tour is aimed at adults. For families with children, we offer the "Queens of the meadows" event at 11 am. Please note that there are only limited parking spaces available in the area around the castle gardens. We recommend traveling by public transport.
