After fire in Lichterfelde: fire department gives the all-clear

Following the major fire at a metal technology company in Berlin-Lichterfelde, the fire department has given the all-clear for the surrounding area. A fire department spokesperson said on Saturday in response to an inquiry that no one had to worry about dangerous fire gases.

The warning was also withdrawn in the Nina Warning App. According to the fire department, the fire was extinguished on Saturday afternoon. However, extinguishing work was still ongoing - fires kept flaring up in the rubble of the building. This will keep the fire department busy all day, the spokesman explained. However, smoke was no longer spreading. Three floors had collapsed and there were still areas of fire at the bottom of the building.
