Due to a security conference attended by high-ranking guests, people in Berlin should expect traffic disruptions on Tuesday.

The Berlin Police announced via WhatsApp that Lichtenberg, City West, and the government district are affected by the "extensive closures." The U5 subway line will temporarily not stop at the Bundestag subway station. Waterways and Berlin's airspace are also affected by the closures, according to the announcement.

S-Bahn and bus service is limited

According to the S-Bahn, there will be service disruptions this afternoon on lines S41, S42, S8 and S85 between Ostkreuz and Greifswalder Straße. In addition, bus lines 100, 110, 200, 204, 245, 249, M45 and M46 will not stop at the Zoologischer Garten S-Bahn and U-Bahn station. There will be road closures around the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The Berlin Traffic Information Center (VIZ) announced this on social media. This particularly affects Hardenbergstraße, Budapester Straße, Kantstraße and Breitscheidplatz. Accordingly, all bus routes have been rerouted away from Hardenbergplatz.

More than 140 speakers are expected

The Berlin Security Conference is expected to bring state guests, defense industry representatives, military experts and scholars to the capital. They will discuss military threats and the security situation. More than 140 speakers are scheduled to appear on various panels. According to the Berlin police, approximately 3,400 officers will be responsible for security at the conference and in the surrounding area. Support will come from nearly all parts of Germany.
