The Coronavirus incidence in Berlin has hardly changed compared to the previous day. The RKI reported an incidence of 1105.9 on Monday morning (Feb. 21, 2022).

Similar incidence values had been reported over the weekend. On Friday, the incidence in Berlin, which indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, had still been at 977.1, significantly under the national average of 1346.8.

Experts assume higher case numbers

However, experts assume that many cases have not been recorded in the RKI data. Testing capacities and health authorities are sometimes at their limits and contact cases are only followed up to a limited extent. In addition, there are probably a large number of people who no longer get confirmation of their infection by taking a PCR test - in thaz case. the infection is not included in the official statistics.

Fewer Covid-19 patients admitted to ICUs

232 new Coronavirus infections were recorded by Monday morning, bringing the total number of registered cases in Berlin to just under 700,000. No new Covid-related deaths were recorded. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4213 people have died from or with the virus in Berlin. The number of Coronavirus patients per 100,000 inhabitants who were hospitalized within seven days averaged 22.3, according to the Senate's situation report - a slight decrease. The occupancy of intensive care units with Covid patients is currently at 14.6 percent, slightly lower than the previous days.
