For the car-free day on September 22, more than 30 street sections will once again be closed to motorized traffic and become play streets. Buses and trains can be used without a ticket on Thursday.

This year, Berlin is participating in the international Car Free Day for the third time. A total of 37 streets or street sections will be closed to car traffic and temporarily turned into play streets. Between 3 pm and 7 pm, the streets in question in all districts will be open for children and adults to play, eat and spend time together.

Free public transport in the fare zone AB

On the occasion of the car-free day, passengers can use Berlin's public transport system without having to buy a ticket. On September 22, all buses and trains in Berlin in the AB fare zone can be used free of charge from midnight. For journeys to Brandenburg, however, a Berlin BC or Berlin ABC ticket must be purchased.
