"Berlin says thank you": Day of action for volunteers

Berlin sagt danke

Berlin once again honours the many volunteers in the city with a day of action at the end of November.

Under the motto 'Berlin sagt Danke' ('Berlin says thank you'), a number of cultural and leisure facilities are offering free or discounted tickets to all volunteers, according to the Berlin cultural administration.

Cinemas, Zoo and Tierpark take part

The day of action is planned for 30 November. In some cases, registration or proof of commitment is required. The Berlin Zoo and Tierpark, for example, want to give out a contingent of free tickets. Other participants include the Yorck cinema group, the Alba Berlin basketball club and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.

Staatsballett and Hertha donate tickets

Some events will only take place in the days or weeks following the day of action. For example, the Staatsballett Berlin is offering free tickets for the dance piece ‘Bovary’ on 21 December. Second division football club Hertha BSC is giving away 100 free tickets for the home game against Preußen Münster on 14 December. According to the cultural administration, there are more than one million volunteers in Berlin.
