Give and receive: The exhibition by Taiwanese artist Lee Mingwei at Gropius Bau deals with the culture and rituals of gift-giving.

In the Berlin exhibition, Lee Mingwei critically examines Western concepts that see the principle of reciprocity as the basic schema of gift; immaterial gifts such as song, conversation, or contemplation play a central role in the show in the Martin-Gropius-Bau. The starting point for his participative projects, which are located between installation and performance, are often personal encounters, which in the exhibition establish a common aesthetic space of experience and the possibility of exchange between unknowns.
