Atomium

The Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing is actively involved in European working groups and international networks in order to find common approaches to the most pressing urban challenges with other experts.

These are some of the international networks in which the Senate Departments participates:

EUROCITIES
EUROCITIES is the largest network of European cities. It aims to strengthen the municipal and urban perspective in the EU decision-making process and the cross-border cooperation between cities at a practical level. EUROCITIES has various forums and working groups that focus on specific urban challenges. The Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing is involved in several working groups.

Scandria®Alliance
The longstanding transnational cooperation between cities and regions along the Scandria corridor has led to the creation of the Scandria®Alliance. This interdisciplinary network develops innovative cross-border solutions for transport and logistics, facilitates the exchange of experience and seeks to influence EU policy-making. The Alliance is a key factor for integrating the capital region Berlin-Brandenburg into the European network and for promoting territorial cohesion. A secretariat coordinating the Scandria®Alliance was set up in the Spatial Planning Department Berlin-Brandenburg.

URBAN Network
The German-Austrian Urban Network supports German and Austrian cities in the implementation of integrated urban development measures financed by the EU Structural Funds.
