The klezmer band celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2020. There were many exciting programs. One constant throughout the years has been the motto: “Klezmer High Life.” The five-piece band from Hamburg has mastered all the nuances of klezmer music and mixes traditional klezmer sounds with jazz, classical, and world music, often with great virtuosity. This gives the “old” a new sound, and in the “new” you can hear the beautiful old melodies that leave no audience untouched. But original compositions are also playing a greater role in the program for the first time. This formation has long been known beyond the Hamburg area, with acclaimed and sold-out concerts throughout Germany and abroad. Joy of playing, tempo, wit, and charm, but also melancholy and depth—these attributes characterize Mischpoke's success.
