The Coronavirus is spreading more slowly again in Berlin, according to official data. The seven-day incidence fell for the fourth day in a row on Tuesday (March 22, 2022).
According to the situation report of the Senate, 997.1 of 100,000 people in Berlin were infected with the virus in the past seven days. The previous day, the incidence had been significantly higher at 1071.9. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), Berlin has the second lowest incidence of all German states after Hamburg and is significantly below the national average of 1733.4.
Experts assume that a high number of cases are not officially recorded. They see reasons in the overload of health offices and in the fact that many infections are no longer confirmed via a PCR test. Berlin health offices reported 6968 new infections within one day. Five new deaths related to Covid-19 were reported, bringing the total to 4324 since the beginning of the pandemic.
