Coronavirus incidence stagnates at over 1000

The incidence of Coronavirus in Berlin remained almost unchanged over the last days and was at 1079.6 on Wednesday morning (Feb. 23, 2022).

On Tuesday, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days was at 1079.1, a week ago at just under 1118. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the Berlin incidence continues to be significantly below the national average of 1278.9. However, experts assume that many cases are not recorded in the RKI data because numerous infections are not registered due to a lack of testing capacities.

Slight increase in hospitalization rate

According to the situation report of the Berlin Senate, five new deaths related to Covid-19 were reported on Wednesday. Since the start of the pandemic, 4222 people in Berlin have died from or with the virus.. The number of Coronavirus patients hospitalized within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants rose slightly to an average of 21.7. The corresponding warning light remains on red. Likewise, the occupancy rate of intensive care units with Corona patients rose slightly to 14.4.
