The number of Senate-mandated vaccination sites and centers is being reduced. Four immunization sites and one vaccination center will cease operations in February.
This was announced by the Senate Department for Higher Education and Research, Health, Long-Term Care and Gender Equality on Thursday (February 17, 2022). The Coronavirus vaccination centers inside the Spandauer Arcaden and the Lindencenter, in the Ikea parking lot in Tempelhof and inside the Freizeitforum Marzahn will close on February 24. The last opportunity to get vaccinated there will be on Wednesday, February 23.
The vaccination center at Messe Berlin will cease operations on February 28. In March, the vaccination centers at the ICC, the former Tegel Airport, Ikea Lichtenberg and the Ring Center as well as the vaccination drive-thru in Lichtenberg will still be available. The background for the closures is the dwindling utilization rate of the vaccination centers. According to the Senate, around two-thirds of vaccinations are currently carried out by general practitioners and specialist doctors. In addition, pharmacies now also offer Coronavirus vaccinations.
