The health warnings for the Teufelssee and certain areas of the Unterhavel have been lifted. However, caution still applies in certain bodies of water.
According to a press release, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lageso) has lifted the health warnings due to the high levels of E. coli bacteria and algae. For the Lower Havel, this affects the areas of Kleine Badewiese, Lieper Bucht, Große Steinlanke, Strandbad Wannsee and Alter Hof.
For the Grunewaldturm, Radfahrerwiese and Breitehorn areas, however, the health warning remains in place due to the growth of algae. The Lageso also continues to advise against swimming in the Dahme in the areas of Schmöckwitz, Große Krampe and Bammelecke. In general, the state office warned against swimming in murky waters. Children in particular should avoid areas with green and blue-green streaks. Sensitive people could experience skin irritation and allergic reactions. The algae also make rescue operations more difficult due to their low visibility.
