Start of electronic residence registration announced for mid-October

People in Berlin will soon be able to register and re-register their place of residence online. The service is expected to be available from mid-October, according to the Senate Chancellery. An appointment at the citizens' registration office will then no longer be necessary.

With around 500,000 applications per year, registering a new home is reportedly one of the most frequently used and most important administrative services in the state of Berlin. Those responsible hope that the new online service will be used actively and that citizens will find it easier to get appointments at the citizens' offices for other matters.
