After high temperatures had already affected the capital at the beginning of the week, the German Weather Service (DWD) issued another heat warning for Friday.
On Friday, the DWD expects a strong heat load between 11 am and 7 pm, with the perceived temperature above 32 degrees and the nightly cooling remaining low. This is especially true in the densely built-up urban area of Berlin. According to the weather service, it will also remain hot at the weekend. Highs between 30 and 34 degrees are expected in Berlin and Brandenburg on Saturday.
During a heat wave, a few basic rules should be followed. Basically, avoid direct sunlight and do not go outside during the hottest part of the day. Furthermore, the home should be kept as cool as possible. Finally, make sure you drink enough fluids and take in enough electrolytes. Anyone suffering from circulatory problems, headaches or vomiting should contact a doctor.
