The arrival center for refugees from Ukraine on the site of the former Tegel Airport is to be used until at least the end of September.
This was decided by the red-green-red Senate on Tuesday at its last meeting before the change of government, as Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey subsequently announced. The arrival center is located in the former airport terminal C. The emergency accommodation for refugees in the lightweight halls in front of it will also continue to be used. The extension is a response to the continuing tense situation regarding the accommodation of refugees in Berlin.
