One day after the elections to the Berlin House of Representatives, Pin AG has started delivering the voting notifications for the Berlin climate referendum.
All citizens of Berlin entitled to vote should have their notification in the mailbox by Saturday, March 4, at the latest. This was communicated by the state election commissioner on Monday. Absentee ballots can be requested starting this Monday.
All those who were eligible to vote in the elections to the House of Representatives may vote in the referendum on March 26 as well - as long as they do not move out of Berlin. Berlin-wide, that is about 2.4 million people. The referendum was initiated by the alliance «Klimaneustart». Its aim is for Berlin to become climate-neutral by 2030 and not - as is currently planned - by 2045. To achieve this, the state's energy transition law is to be amended.
