The Berlin Senate has published the date for the first shopping Sunday this year.

As announced by the Senate Department for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs on Tuesday (Jan. 04, 2022), stores are allowed to open on February 20 from 1 to 8 pm. No other dates for Sunday shopping have been set for the first half of 2022.
The occasion for the shops opening on Sunday opening is the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), which is planned to take place from February 10 to 20, 2022. However, stores may only open if the festival takes place on-site as planned. If the Berlinale is held as a digital or hybrid event due to the Coronavirus pandemic or has to be canceled, the permission for shops to open on Sundays does not apply.
