Flinkster

Flinkster

Deutsche Bahn's car sharing provider Flinkster lets users book cars at fixed stations by the hour or month.

The car sharing service Flinkster was launched in Berlin at the end of 2001 as part of Deutsche Bahn's mobility service and currently exists in more than 300 cities throughout Germany. Flinkster offers an extensive fleet of vehicles Unlike its competitors, the cars are tied to fixed stations.

Vehicle Types

Flinkster offers five classes of vehicles which include everything from small cars such as Minis all the way to large vans. Flinkster also offers types of motors from diesel and gasoline to purely electric.

Registration

After registering online, your driver's license needs to be validated before you can use Flinkster's car rental services. This can be done by presenting your driver's license and ID card at one of the sales outlets or via video chat. There is a registration fee, which is waived for BahnCard customers.

Rental Process and Pricing

Flinkster offers a free app that makes it easy to find rental stations and free vehicles and to reserve free cars. Those who do not want to use the app can also make reservations via the website or hotline. A reservation can be made spontaneously or well in advance. The car can then be picked up at the Flinkster station and unlocked using a customer card or smartphone. Stopovers are possible during the trip. After the trip, the car must be returned to the station where it was borrowed. Flinkster offers various pricing models that take into account hourly or daily bookings. A flat usage fee is charged in any case.
