"Pandemic level 1": Police reinstate Coronavirus crisis unit

Berlin police have initiated "pandemic level 1" and once again established a Coronavirus crisis unit.

15 to 30 percent of staff absent due to pandemic

The Berlin police announced on Monday (Jan. 17, 2022) that 15 to 30 percent of their staff is currently absent due to illness. Accordingly, this first of three stages is a precautionary act comprised of intra-agency measures. "There will not be any noticeable impacts for the people of Berlin," the police announced. About 800 police employees are currently infected or in precautionary quarantine.

Early precautions to counter the infection situation

As in previous high phases of the pandemic, the internal coordination center of the police grew is once again expanded into a Coronavirus crisis unit. Police Chief Barbara Slowik said that it was very important to her to take the next step in the precautionary encounter of the infection situation at an early stage.
