Berlin thus continues to have the second highest incidence in a nationwide comparison, after Bremen and ahead of Hamburg. The Berlin district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg has the highest incidence of all urban and rural districts in Germany with a value of 1596.3. Nationwide, the RKI reported a seven-day incidence of 528.2 on Monday.

Coronavirus incidence slightly down

The number of Coronavirus infections in Berlin has fallen slightly for the first time in a while. As the RKI reported on Monday (Jan. 17, 2022), the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was 947.7 - down from 965,3 on Sunday.

No new deaths reported in Berlin
According to the RKI, 220 new infections were registered in Berlin between Sunday and Monday, bringing the total number of proven Coronavirus infections since the start of the pandemic to 397,139. No other deaths related to Covid-19 were registered. Since the start of the pandemic, 4067 people in Berlin have been confirmed to have died from or with the virus.
