The Berlin State Election Committee has determined the official results of the Bundestag elections for the capital on February 23.
This does not result in any major changes to the provisional results published on election night, as state election officer Stephan Bröchler announced. Only the Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) alliance gained a tenth of a percentage point.
According to Bröchler, only minor corrections were made by the election committees in the course of checking the counting results in the twelve Berlin constituencies. These were due to recording or transmission errors. Individual polling stations in several constituencies had been recounted in recent weeks. According to the final results, the Left Party won the election in Berlin with 19.9% of the second votes. It was followed by the CDU with 18.3% and the Greens with 16.8%. The AfD came in with 15.2 percent, just ahead of the SPD with 15.1 percent. The BSW achieved 6.7% from a standing start, while the FDP landed at 3.8%.
According to the provisional results, 24 MPs from Berlin will be represented in the new 630-member Bundestag - one less than before. The Left Party has six MPs, the CDU and the Greens five MPs each, and the AfD and SPD four MPs each. On March 14, the Federal Election Committee will determine the nationwide result of the election.
