It’s set to be hot again in Berlin and Brandenburg on Saturday: the German Weather Service has issued an official heatwave warning for the day.

The capital region was already experiencing high temperatures on Friday: with a light breeze, temperatures rose to over 30 degrees. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), temperatures will drop again to between 18 and 13 degrees overnight on Saturday, before rising even higher during the day.

Heat warning between 11 am and 7 pm

Temperatures of 33 to 37 degrees and plenty of sunshine are expected on Saturday, with light winds. Towards the evening, a few clouds will move in towards Prignitz; in some areas, there may be showers, some of which could be accompanied by thunderstorms. An official heatwave warning is in place between 11 am and 7 pm: the advice is to avoid the heat, drink plenty of fluids and keep your home cool where possible. Older people in particular should avoid unnecessary trips and take appropriate precautions.

More pleasant temperatures on Sunday

Sunday will be cloudier, with showers and thunderstorms in places, and some clear spells in north-western Brandenburg. Maximum temperatures will then reach a pleasant 24 to 27 degrees. The night leading into Monday will also be cloudy, with temperatures of 14 to 12 degrees. The coming week will then begin with heavy cloud and isolated showers, with temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees.
