Sunday truck driving ban eased until end of August

Following the lead of other federal states, Berlin and Brandenburg are also easing the ban on truck traffic on Sundays and holidays.

Until August 31, shipments that are typically transported by inland waterway vessels but are currently not possible due to low water levels in German rivers are now also permitted on Sundays. This was announced by the Berlin Senate Department for Transportation and the Brandenburg Ministry of Transportation.

Inland waterway shipping in Germany severely disrupted

For truck transport that is not related to low water levels, the Sunday driving ban remains in effect. Due to persistently very low water levels on German waterways, inland waterway shipping is currently significantly disrupted. Some freight transport must be shifted to road and rail to maintain supply chains. As a result, numerous federal states have already relaxed the Sunday regulations for truck traffic.
