Following last week's BVG strike, there will be further restrictions on local transport from Thursday - this time on the S-Bahn.
The rail strike on long-distance and regional train services begins at 2 a.m. on Thursday morning and will once again lead to considerable restrictions for millions of travelers. According to the trade union GDL, the strike is set to last until Friday at 1 p.m. But even after that, it is likely to be some time before all trains are running again as usual.
Deutsche Bahn has announced that it will once again offer an emergency timetable and a basic service on long-distance and regional trains. Longer trains with more seats will be running on long-distance connections. The train service for March 7 and 8 has been canceled, so passengers can change their journeys to a later date. The Berlin S-Bahn is also aiming for an emergency timetable.
Berlin buses, trams and subway trains are operated by Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and are not affected by the GDL strike. Nevertheless, passengers must be prepared for restrictions such as full vehicles and longer waiting times.
