Several hundred thousand people are expected at the 45th Christopher Street Day on Saturday. Starting on Thursday, traffic participants in Mitte and Tiergarten must expect restrictions.
The Berlin Traffic Information Centre (VIZ) recommends that motorised road users avoid the city centre as far as possible. As last year, Christopher Street Day will start at the corner of Leipziger Straße and Spittelmarkt and continue via Nollendorfplatz and Siegessäule to the Brandenburg Gate.
From 8 am on Thursday, the Straße des 17. Juni between Großer Stern and Brandenburger Tor, Ebertstraße between Scheidemannstraße and Behrenstraße, Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße and Pariser Platz will be completely closed until 6 pm on Sunday. On the day of the demonstration, Leipziger Straße between Charlottenstraße and Axel-Springer-Straße will also be closed from 6 am and reopened in the evening after the cleaning work is finished. John-Foster-Dulles-Allee/Scheidemannstraße/Dorotheenstraße between Spreeweg and Ebertstraße will also be closed from 8 am on Saturday until noon on Sunday.
For all those interested, it is strongly recommended to travel by public transport. Due to the expected high number of visitors, the stations Brandenburger Tor, Bundestag and Nollendorfplatz will probably have to be closed during the course of the day. In this case, the affected trains will pass through the stations without stopping.
