In Berlin, the installation of solar systems is to be made easier, including on balconies for tenants of state-owned housing companies.
According to a resolution of the Berlin Senate, this simplification goes along with the amendment of the building code, Senator for Economics Stephan Schwarz announced on Tuesday.
"One of the big challenges is to make Berlin a climate-resilient city," Schwarz said. The expansion of renewable energies is an important building block in achieving climate neutrality. As a step in this direction, it is planned to revise previous regulations in the building code. This applies, for example, with regard to the distances that are currently prescribed between photovoltaic systems on roofs and fire walls. In addition, the current senate wants to facilitate the use of solar energy on and on buildings that are listed as historic monuments.
