Berlin wants to significantly expand the range of administrative services available online - including address registration (Anmeldung) and address change notification (Ummeldung).
For example, address registrations (Anmeldung) and address change notifications (Ummeldung) will be offered as ditigal services. This was announced by Berlin's State Secretary for Administrative Modernization, Ralf Kleindiek, to the German Press Agency.
In Berlin, 130 services are already offered online. "These include housing subsidy applications, business registrations or licensing matters for doctors and pharmacists," Kleindiek said. Another 106 services are currently in planning, he added. "We are working on about 35 more for this year, and at least the same number will follow next year," said Kleindiek, who is the Senate's chief digital officer since January.
"When it comes to applying for and renewing ID cards, we will digitize the process to the extent possible under federal regulations," Kleindiek explained. The ID card or passport would still have to be picked up in person, he said.
