Konstantin Grcic: New Normals

With «New Normals», the Haus am Waldsee invites you to the first institutional Berlin solo exhibition of the multi-award-winning industrial designer Konstantin Grcic in Zehlendorf.

From everyday objects and objects from his own work, Grcic develops so-called «New Normals», which on the one hand reflect our present and on the other explore the diverse possibilities of the future - utopian as well as dystopian.

Born in Munich in 1965, Grcic has always dedicated his design practice as a designer to these future-oriented designs of our present and anticipated possible new contemporary states in his furniture and objects. In doing so, he actively dislocates the conceivable and transfers it into a designable sphere. His futuristic-looking chairs, armchairs, tables, lamps, shelves and other objects impressively demonstrate: the future cannot be known - but it can be designed. Thus, his designs not only take on a new shape, but also point to other, possible, new worlds in which these objects could unfold their potential. Konstantin Grcic's designs thus shift our perspective from the existing to the coming.
